Fundraising

It's the simplest and quickest way to raise money so we can be there for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future.

We're working towards making the Pink Ribbon Walks as sustainable as possible and will send you a welcome pack by email, including fundraising materials to download. If you'd like a physical copy of the fundraising materials then we're happy to send these to you in the post, just let us know by ticking the box below.

Pink Ribbon Walk Conditions of Entry


1.	Participation 

1.1.	By submitting my application for a place in the Breast Cancer Now Pink Ribbon Walk 2024 (the Event) I agree to enter into the Event and also agree to abide by these Conditions of Entry, as may be amended from time to time, and any instructions given to me by the organisers and officials of the Event.
1.2.	I or the person I am signing on the behalf of (in the case of a minor) confirm that I will be at least 16 years old on the date of the event. 


2.	Entry Fees and Fundraising

2.1.	I will pay an entry fee of �20. There is a 14 day cooling off period after I have paid this when I can cancel and receive a refund however I understand I cannot do this once the Event has started.

2.2.	I will endeavour to raise a recommended minimum of �100 for Breast Cancer Now (for the avoidance of doubt this does not include Gift Aid or my registration fee) and will regularly pay all money collected to the charity by:

�	Using a fundraising website such as justgiving.com
�	Paying online with my debit or credit card
�	Sending a cheque made payable to �Breast Cancer Now� to Breast Cancer Now, Fifth Floor, Ibex House, 42-47 Minories, London, EC3N 1DY
�	Calling the Supporter Engagement Team on 0333 20 70 300 to pay over the phone with my credit or debit card details 

2.3.	I will send all outstanding sponsorship money to Breast Cancer Now within 6 weeks after the Event finishing.

2.4.	I agree that my sponsorship forms and online fundraising pages will make it clear that the money is not given subject to any conditions and that the monies will not be returned if the event is cancelled, or I do not complete the event.

2.5.	I agree to inform sponsors that their donations are not conditional upon my taking part or completing the Event. 

2.6.	I will comply with any fundraising guidance or advice issued by Breast Cancer Now.

2.7.	I will use Breast Cancer Now�s fundraising materials to fundraise for this Event and will return any unused materials on completion of the event. 

2.8.	I will only use lawful means to fundraise and will not do anything that is likely to harm Breast Cancer Now�s reputation.

2.9.	I understand that fundraising activities are subject to certain guidelines and I will abide by the Code of Fundraising Practice issued by the Fundraising Regulator and by any government guidelines in place at the time, when organising any fundraising activities.

2.10.	I will use my best endeavours to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, and not do anything to bring Breast Cancer Now into disrepute.

2.11.	I acknowledge that I am responsible for organising my fundraising, and Breast Cancer Now cannot accept any liability for losses, costs incurred, damage or injury to me or anyone who participates in my fundraising.

2.12.	If organising an event to support my fundraising, I will ask any venues for a copy of their risk assessment and ensure any required public liability insurance is in place. 

2.13.	If organising an event to support my fundraising, I am responsible for food safety at my event including allergy advice and will ensure all food is accurately labelled (please see guidance from The Food Standards Agency (food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/providing-food-at-community-and-charity-events) for further information). 

2.14.	I will communicate that my fundraising is �in aid of� Breast Cancer Now to ensure it�s clear that Breast Cancer Now is not responsible for my activity or event. 

2.15.	I will let those who support my fundraising know that their donations will support all of Breast Cancer Now�s work.

2.16.	I agree that any materials provided by Breast Cancer Now for the purpose of my fundraising will only be used for this activity and only for the benefit of Breast Cancer Now. 

2.17.	I will return any specified fundraising materials (e.g. collection buckets, unused pin badges, etc) to Breast Cancer Now as requested. 

2.18.	If holding a collection to support my fundraising, I will obtain and refer to Breast Cancer Now�s collection guidelines if holding a collection. 

2.19.	If holding a collection to support my fundraising, I will not collect in any public place without first obtaining a collector�s license from the appropriate local authority.

2.20.	If holding a collection to support my fundraising, I will not collect on private property (including shops, restaurants, etc) without first obtaining the permission of the owner. 

2.21.	I will not carry out house-to-house collections to support my fundraising. 

2.22.	I will obtain and refer to Breast Cancer Now�s raffle guidelines if holding a raffle. 

2.23.	I will not leave unsecured cash unattended.

2.24.	I will count cash in a secure place and, where possible, ensure it�s counted by two unrelated people.

2.25.	I will not give children aged under 16 overall responsibility for handling money or responsibility for counting collected money. 
 
2.26.	I will only use the �in aid of Breast Cancer Now� logo to create my own materials and will not use the Breast Cancer Now logo in any other way.


3.	Cancellation

3.1.	I will inform Breast Cancer Now at the earliest possible opportunity if I am unable to take part in the Event. I understand that in these circumstances the entry fee is non refundable subject to Clause 2.1. 

3.2.	I understand that Breast Cancer Now may cancel the Event if circumstances beyond their reasonable control arise, including, without limitation, war, epidemic or pandemic, civil or political unrest, terrorism, government guidelines, or inclement weather conditions. I understand that if the Event is cancelled or rearranged by Breast Cancer Now the entry fee is non-refundable but I will be offered the opportunity to transfer my registration to a re-scheduled or alternative event.

4.	Health and Safety

4.1.	Due to the nature of the outdoor activities that constitute the Event a certain element of risk is inherent in participation. Breast Cancer Now will be organising the Event following best practice guidelines and health and safety standards and will take all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of injury to participants during the Event.  There is a stringent risk assessment process in place for the Event which aims to minimise the risk to everyone taking part. 

4.2.	In no event shall we be liable to you, whether for breach of contract, any tortious act or omission (including negligence) or otherwise, under or in connection with the Agreement for any: loss or damage; loss of profit; loss of reputation; loss of business, revenue or goodwill; loss of anticipated savings; pledges made on your behalf or by you to charity; or consequential or indirect loss, regardless of whether the loss or damage:
(a) would arise in the ordinary course of events;
(b) is reasonably foreseeable; or
(c) is in the contemplation of the parties, or otherwise.
4.3.	Nothing in this Agreement shall affect our liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or any other liability to the extent it cannot be excluded or limited by law.

4.4.	I understand that I am responsible for my own medical condition(s) and, where appropriate, I will seek the advice of a doctor before signing up to the Event, and/or before taking part. I will inform Breast Cancer Now of any relevant medical conditions, illnesses or disabilities at the time of booking, and anytime thereafter if my situation changes.

4.5.	I will not participate in the Event if I am not sufficiently fit and healthy, or if I,  or anyone within my household is displaying symptoms of a disease that could be reasonably assumed to be a danger to others attending the Event. I understand that Breast Cancer Now reserves the right to refuse entry to, or continued participation in, the Event if in the professional opinion of its medical team a participant or any other person is not sufficiently well and healthy.

4.6.	I will abide by any rules, regulations and guidance provided by the UK government or local government that are in place to reduce the spread of any infectious disease.

4.7.	In particular, but without limitation, I will adhere to any guidelines that Breast Cancer Now may implement at the Event in respect of social distancing, and hygiene procedures, associated with minimising the likely spread of infection or disease. I understand that Breast Cancer Now reserves the right in its sole discretion to refuse to allow participants or spectators to take part/spectate or to continue to participate/spectate in the event if that person is deemed to be in breach of these guidelines.

4.8.	I will compete all the information fields on the reverse of the Breast Cancer Now walking number included in the final pack and I will wear it during the Event.

5.	The routes and finishing

5.1.	I understand that Breast Cancer Now reserves the right to change or reduce any of the Pink Ribbon Walk routes at any stage and for any reason.

5.2.	To ensure the safety of participants, I understand that all routes will close at 6.30pm. This will allow the 20 mile participants 9 hours and 30 minutes to complete their route, and 10 mile participants 7 hours to complete the route. I understand that in some circumstances participants may be encouraged to take a vehicle transfer to a point further along the route in order to cross the finish line in time. 

5.3.	If I have not finished the Event within the allotted time but choose to continue walking I do so at my own risk and acknowledge that I will no longer be considered a participant of the Event, and as such will not be eligible for any Event resources (including, but not limited to, snack stations, suppliers, venues, refreshments, course direction/support, personnel etc.)and that Breast Cancer Now will no longer be responsible for my participation after this time. 

6.	Code of Conduct

6.1.	I agree at all times to abide by the decision of Breast Cancer Now staff and associated partners, and doing so is a condition of my being allowed to take part in the Event. 

6.2.	I will abide by the Country Code and the Highway Code.

6.3.	I will and will encourage my supporters: to be respectful of local residents whilst out on the route and not to make any excessive noise; to use the litter and recycling facilities available within the venue and around the route; to respect the communities I am walking through; to not drop litter but carry it with me until I can dispose of it responsibly; not to use aggressive or abusive language towards Breast Cancer Now�s organisers and volunteers.

6.4.	I will and will ask my supporters to refrain from smoking, vaping or using e-cigarettes at the Event.

6.5.	The Pink Ribbon Walk is a non-competitive walk, and participants are reminded that running is not allowed. Anyone found running will be asked by staff to stop and continue at a walking pace. Event logistics cater for participants moving at a walking pace and, if running, I acknowledge and accept that event infrastructure may not be set up ahead of me (including, but not limited to, snack stations, suppliers, access to the finish venue, refreshments, course direction/support, guides etc.). If I do run then I will not be considered an official participant of the event, and as such I will not be eligible to use any event resources. I understand that you Breast Cancer Now shall not be responsible should I choose to run, and that I progress entirely at my own risk. 

6.6.	Stocks of Breast Cancer Now's T-shirts are limited. In the event that my requested size is not available an alternative size will be provided, based on availability.

6.7.	Dogs are not permitted at Hampton Court Palace within the palace, courtyards or gardens unless they are trained assistance dogs. This includes medical alert dogs. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to come to the other events. The owner must accept responsibility for them and Breast Cancer Now will not accept any liability for them.

7.	Personal data and images


7.1.	All personal data will be processed in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 2018.

7.2.	I give permission for my personal information to be stored and used by Breast Cancer Now in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of the Event and shared with third parties for that purpose. I understand the Breast Cancer Now will process my data in accordance with their Privacy Policy (breastcancernow.org/privacy-policy.

7.3.	In the case of an emergency, Breast Cancer Now may pass personal details provided by each participant to the emergency services, health care professionals and for the purposes of contacting individuals� emergency contact(s).

7.4.	First aid facilities will be provided at the Pink Ribbon Walks. Breast Cancer Now shall only use details shared for administration and health and safety purposes and to fulfil its legal obligations. All medical details will be securely held by Breast Cancer Now.
